feature / “we are magic”

Like most, I have been overwhelmed since this pandemic started. It's a time where the bigger perspective is all too clear, when nurturing relationships with our loved ones seem to take priority. People are struggling in communities around the globe and Birmingham is no different.
Our small businesses here are really small. Since this all began, they have been finding creative ways to pivot and cater to us when everything seems up in the air. So many businesses in Birmingham are offering curbside pick up and delivery options (we love Real & Rosemary and Chez Lulu), and we've been loving the new online Stone Hollow Farmstead selection with curbside pick up (great for fresh produce, bread, eggs, milk, fresh cheeses and more!). It has been so incredibly touching to see our community stand up to help our businesses during this crisis. All of this to say that I love this magic city and believe in our ability to get through this.
It is an honor to be a part of this chilling video by Telegraph Creative alongside some of my favorite businesses around town. Mayor Randall Woodfin narrates this call to support the Birmingham Strong fund, which aims to deploy resources to our local small businesses that are substantially affected by COVID-19.
I am also proud to say that ember&onyx ran a campaign that raised a total of $520 to the Birmingham Strong Fund. Please consider donating to this fund that will help our historic city back on it's feet when this is all over.
